Where would "Brother" Russell be at now? (according to current light)

I had this thought the other day that I eventually shared with my wife. The lead in to my sharing this thought was her asking me (on our way to an assembly) something along the lines of, "I wonder if I would ever be good enough for God."

So I shared my thought that I came up with earlier and I will share it with the group here. I am especially curious about any lurking Jehovah's Witnesses and wonder if you have ever consider this yourself.

Was Charles Taze Russell good enough for God? In the proclaimers book, the society points out that pyramidogy was a part of their early teachings but was later abandoned because it was considered to be a tool of Satan. Charles Taze Russell went to his grave teaching and believing in pyramidology. If the criteria for being 'good enough for God' calls for having the 'right beliefs' or as the witnesses refer to it as 'accurate knowledge' then Brother Russell was off by a 'country mile' (well according to Brother Rutherford). My wife even added that Russell celebrated Christmas and partook in a lot of the 'worldly' celebrations. She's right, for according to current witness theology, Charles Taze Russell is so far off the mark that anyone professing similar beliefs today would be disfellowshipped.

Of course, this is nothing new for those who've research the religion but this epiphany helps put things in perspective in regards to the question, "Am I good enough for God?" I bet if you ask any active Jehovah's Witness in any congregation today whether or not Charles Taze Russell has the heavenly hope (and is perhaps already in Heaven with Christ), that witness would answer with a definite YES.

Yet, Russell went to his grave teaching and believing in something that is now considered a tool of Satan.

    Just thinking...

Without a doubt he would be disfellowshipped. Oh and he has a beard....don't let him handle the mics!

The last thing I read on that was that he was directing the preaching work from beyond the veil.

I doubt that was ever contradicted in any literature.

Oh and he has a beard....don't let him handle the mics! Did Russell cut his beard after he kicked the bucket???

No......he still has the beard in heaven, but he along with all the apostles can't handle the trumphets in heaven. J F Rutherford with backing from Knorr and Freddie Franz was instrumental in getting that rule passed when modernday annointed JW's became the majority in heaven. Jesus is doing alot of facepalms nowdays over the politics in heaven since Rutherford got there.

According to the WTS, Chuck is just fine -- in heaven, one of the anointed.

Don't forget -- the real truth doesn't matter in Watchtowerland.

Current light is that it's only "present truth" that a person is judged by.

    Here's how it works.

When Chuck was president of the WTS, he believed that he individually was the FDS and that Jesus came back invisibly in 1874.

Because Chuck was the FDS until he died, whatever he thought was "present truth" and remained such up until the time Joe told us that Chuck wasn't really the FDS and never claimed to be such and that Jesus really came back invisibly in 1914.

But Chuck was dead by then.

    So there's no problem.

How do we know all of this?

"Thus Saith the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses."

I trust this clears up any confusion.

Gary that is some excellent reasoning you are doing with your wife. maybe another russell factiod that might help open her mind might be russell also taught that 1914 was the time for armageddon and when it did not happen it was changed to the time of christ by rutherford. unfortunatly the new dvd just glosses over the truth

Thanks for the comments everyone. I think the reasoning I brought about would certainly be useful to anyone (particularly current Jehovah's Witnesses) who are beating themselves up trying to be 'right for God' by following the ever changing rules of this organization. This also cuts across other Christian religions too as there are other examples of people who are considered 'saints' now but if you examined their life and even some of their beliefs....

If accurate knowledge is so important, how come faithful men of old are allowed to get away with inaccurate knowledge?
