There is not as much difference in religions as I thought

I've been attending a Wesleyan church to please my wife for a year now and I find it is not as different as I thought from the JWs. They don't try to control you as the JWs but the same themes are used. The preacher talkes about worldly people the same as JWs. He uses Jehovah and tries to get the church members to witness to eyeryone they meet. The end is comming soon etc. Religion is a scheme to get our lives into a certain spirit controlled way. The bible is God's word and we must use it to live a decent life is the theme. The people are nice to me but I'm just not a religious person after the way my life went as a young person.

If you are not religous, then stop going to church. They all say basically the same thing; the end of the world is coming, pass the money plate from right to left. They basically teach the same, just stay away from catholic churches if you have a bad back/knees. They stand up, sit down, kneel, stand up, walk down front, sit back down, walk down front again, all day long. Too much for me. I hope you enjoy whatever you do. As for me, I enjoy casually drinking coffee and reading the paper on a Sunday morning now, and wait for the games to start, being it is football season now. I don't have to get dressed or go anywhere. I so enjoy my Sunday mornings now, as well as my Tuesday and Thursday evenings too. Enjoy your freedom, see what things make you happy since you no longer have the need to rush out and try not to be late for any of the numerous meetings scheduled for you.

Going to various churches after I left the Watchtower Society was a good education and helped me close the door on religion in my life. Some were bland some were loud and holy-roller types. Something for everyone. They all have that strange twist on the human condition- you are broken and only God can fix you or save you and someday in an unclear future things will become some version or nirvana.

In your case I hope it is time well spent with your wife.

I have been shocked at how close JW's are to the Catholic Church. Just switch name of priests to elders and bishops to CO's and you have it. Amazing.
