    Hey there:

My neighboor has one. SHE LOVES IT! You might want to go to their official website, or, you can watch testamonials on you-tube. I hear that long distance calls can be a little static-y, but other than that, ITS FREE CALLS. All you pay is just the $40 for the actually jack. Well, I think it might cost $20 a year but divide that by 12 months and you only pay a $1.60 a month, and thats why I'm planning on getting one. My LAST PHONE BILL WAS $77!!!!! Thats with long distances included and I'm paying waaaaaay too much for a house phone.

The best advice I could give you is go on youtube and look up: MAGIC JACK REVIEWS. I'm buying one based on reading and listening to reviews.

They don't work with Mac, but I would based on personal experience recommend you go with Skype and buy the unlimited national plan.

Skype supports Mac and the service is great. Only draw back is you can't use a regular phone, but with a head set the quality is much better anyway. Plus you can call another Skype user for free.

Oh wow I thought that Mac did support magic jack. I've never used skype. You can call people over the internet to a landline. I know my aunties have landlines, you can call landlines with skype?

Joliette, a quick google search looks like they do support Mac, they didn't back when I was looking at them.

I do like Skype, and you can call anywhere, the rates are great, and you can get a unlimited national plan.

Just remember with any VoIP server the call is only as good as your internet connection. I have used Vonage for years, and I now use VoicePulse.

    I rarely have a problem.

I use MJ with a PC. Basically it is very good for our limited phone use here. The first year was problem free. Now I am having issues from time to time with poor voice quality. I think it is time to get a new jack maybe, but that would prob result in my changing numbers. Still - it is the cheapest way to go IMO. You have to keep the computer on all the time of course, but I actually find it works better if you shut down once in a while and reload the MJ.

I traded in a $60 month phone bill for $20 a year. I could not go back. out of

I tried using magicJack with my windows system. I use a Verizon wireless card. It didn't work well at all. The quality was poor. Another thing: when I tried calling my companies 800 line, I got another company. A friend had recommended magicJack to me. He even came over to our house, and he couldn't figure out the problem either. He uses Comcast, but it's not available where I live.

Thanks everyone. It works with Macs that have an Intel chip.
