Can anyone fill me in on the following --
Just as you are in the baptism line a brother asks you, "Have you ever been baptised before?"
Was this standard procedure? What was the purpose for the question? What was done with the information?

I don't remember being asked that in 1986.
Yes, he did ask me in 1983. Someone else can answer rest of your questions.
I don't remember being asked of me in the mid/late '90s. All they did with me was confirm my name and tell me not to slip on the wet floor. Maybe I had a bunch of slackers.
I don't recall being asked that in 1967.
I was not asked that in 1962, mind you, i was only twelve then, so unlikely to have been dunked before.
I cannot see what relevance or use it has to ask the question. if someone who was DF'd say, was trying to work a flanker and pretend to be a new convert, they are hardly likely to answer "yes".
There was a practice among some Witnesses who had been baptized very young or who had been Df'd to be rebaptized, sort or a rededication ceremony. maybe the person was inquiring that type of Witness.
