  Interesting piece. While Franz' refusal to translate the verse into Hebrew may indeed betray a lack of proficiency, I do not think he perjured himself or lied in court (in this specific instance, that is). All he said, really, is that he does not speak Hebrew and he implied that he can read Hebrew.

  As per what Leolaia posted. it would be like me saying i can read an write Spanish as for example Si = yes, see i can read and write Spanish, albeit a very miiscule amount to be without merit. That is how Franz's answers appeared to me. He only lied a little bit, you know theocratic warfare. He was to me a despicable human being, screwing millions with his hairbrained ideas and theology.
