Dubs think that Russell is de man, he is the "first cause" of modern jwism. What would happen if a young dub the age that Russell was when he first started his questioning of his AND I must assume his father's religious beliefs. Would that young dub be allowed to explore his religious views in a similar way without getting himself into a great deal of problems. And since in today's jw world a young man of that age is not even considered to be ready to function within the congregation as a ministerial servant, how is it that Russell was old enough to begin the road to starting a new faith. And the great Jah new from whence he came and his auspicious beginnings and yet "apparently" was okay with this young rebel getting the ball rolling so that in 1914-19 Jesus could pick his group as the only ones practicing truth in an acceptable way. Just wondering,

If a young man like that insisted on that course would he end up disfellowshipped. what think you?

Indeed. If Russell was a JW today and formed a group to do independent Bible Research, he'd be in big doo-doo.

A JW with the personality of Russell would quickly be labelled an apostate, just as Russell would be considered an apostate of the Presbyterian Church.

There are over 30,000 Christian religions at the moment, all started by someone - generally someone with an ego larger than their faith.

What is it about followers that makes them want to follow a group started by one leader over another leader, and then say they alone have truth? Gullibility.

I find it interesting that Rutherford tried to take Russell's crown by claiming a lot of what Russell taught was from Satan, and that Jesus did not find the Watchtower clean enough to pick until 1919 - conveniently during the reign of Rutherford. He could have just as easily claimed Jesus chose the Watchtower at the start of his rule in 1914, but then that would have glorified Russell instead of Rutherford.

If Jehovah has always had a visible organization, why did Russell start the WTBTS from scratch instead of joining Jehovah's existing organization?

    Wasn't that rebellious, independent thinking?

    Why would Jehovah bless that?

Who were the leaders of Jehovah's visible organization between the death of the apostle John and the arrival of Russell? (I'm not asking for names of isolated Christians. I'm asking about leaders of a visible organization believers could join and submit to.)

Once Russell started the WTBTS, wouldn't that mean Jehovah had two different visible organizations on earth at the same time?

What happened to the other one?

Great comments and they totally build on the wackiness of the cult.
