Reading some of these threads reminded me of a situation a few years ago. My uncle and ex FIL were both PO's and very well known in the area due to RBC stuff and their general big shooterness in the borg. So of course they take out the CO and DO after an assembly to a nice Italian place and the waitress is being quite inquisitive on why everyone is so dressed up. Well don't you know that these fine brothers did not use that chance to informal witness to the waitress who obviously was guided by the angels to get that very table, with who??? No one else but two brothers (one being annointed, Gordon Merrill was his name) as close to Jesus as one could get!! And they refused to tell her they were JW's coming from an assembly.

It was so shocking how they were so secretive and unwilling to give her an explaination as to their outstanding dress code....

Things that make you go hmmmm.....

Does make you go hmmmmm......especially, when they will use situations like that as assembly experiences to encourage people to informal witness afterwards. Guys should have had their badges on and everything.

What I hated were the SM parts where in the demo's the OKM tried to encourage people to avoid saying they were a JW.

We had a case where the DO, the CO, and their wives observed some young people in our congregation DRINKING at a steak & ale when they were there having dinner (just the four of them) one evening before an assembly.

They wanted the elders to call these kids up on the carpet. Problem was - they really were of legal age.

I remember the elders general reaction was: Well, why didn't you just march up to them on the spot and say something yourselves? The embarrassing situation came out that three of their holinesses were drinking alcohol too.

We reminded these two busybodies that technically Oklahoma did not have liquor by the drink, so they were breaking the law as much as these kids were.

Nothing happened to the young people.
