My current view is that half the world exists to reassure the other half that there is something they don't know that can only be found by listening to the first half telling it. (And at retail).

The western mindset tends toward that. It started when rome was infected w christianity.
The asian mindset is to tell the world to find it themselves.

Family has leaders (parents) and followers: children.

The U.S. is more or less in the hands of unalterably opposed ideologues (Republicans vs Democrats) who are so busy pointing out the flaws
of the other's arguments they cannot focus on anything that can benefit the citizens of our Nation.
Just like when we were JW's. We could stand around for hours telling you what was wrong with everybody else.
There was no provision for our own re-education by challenges, skepticism or questioning.
Now most JW's reading that would say they got plenty of challenges at the door to door work.
But--that isn't INSIDE challenges.
Outsiders always deal with superficial Doctrinal disagreements.
Outsiders aren't aware of how the Organization is run or even its changes in belief, doctrine and policy.
No process exists whereby a Governing Body member can be challenged and recalled!
No accusation of ineptitude can be put into place, either.
Polarization is what JW's live for: I'm right and You are wrong.
