Just a humble reminder for us all

I was pulling out some weeds in my back yard a few days ago.

There was one particular weed that gave me a LOT of trouble to pull out. It surprised me because it didn't look as strong and hearty as it was.

It got me to thinking. How am I qualified to even declare how "tough" this weed is? A much stronger man than me might have no problem, whereas a much weaker man than me would have even more struggle that I.

In fact, to a gnat this weed is a massive structure of which would be impossible to unearth, and to an elephant it is merely an insignificance.

It makes me think of all the weight we, as a society, place on success and failure. What we deem "success" or "failure" is just as reletaive to it's surroundings as the weed is in my back yard!

It's humbling to know that no matter what we beleive a single event could make anyone on this planet a believer or a non believer.

If aliens came to our planet, that would change so much for the believers.

If God decided to show himself in physical form, that would change so much for the skeptics.

We denounce eachother, fight with each other and even kill each other over these perceptions we have. Beacuse that's all it is right? Just a perception.

Because, in the end, know one knows for sure.

Sounds a lot like former President Ronald Reagan's musing on a possible alien encounter and the effect on the people of Earth.

    Maybe, but maybe not.

If he performed miracles and walked on water, most people would probably find alternate explanations.

Luke 16:29-31: "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.' 30 "'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' 31 "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the
    dead.'"

    I don't knwo about that...

If aliens came to our planet, that would change so much for the believers.

For some, yes I can see that, not for all.

If God decided to show himself in physical form, that would change so much for the skeptics.

Maybe, maybe not but even if it did, what is to say that 100 years after that people wouldn't be calling those people that saw God as "wackos"?

Indeed, you'd think we'd know better by now.

Because, in the end, know one knows for sure.

Fact is, no matter how much faith we have, no, we don't know for sure.

PSac, there is a single event that would change the lives of any individual. That even might affect the masses or it might just affect one person.

Fact is, everyone has their "event" that would change everything for them.

I think it would change much more for the unbelievers, dear Sab (peace to you!). I think true believers would be expecting something along those lines, anyway. I mean, spirit being would seem as aliens, given what they look like... and how the Bible describes their "coming."

If God decided to show himself in physical form, that would change so much for the skeptics.

Well, perhaps, if He showed Himself as He really is. Would actually cause most skeptics to fall down dead in their tracks. Or at least faint. If, however, He showed Himself in physical human form, as He once did through the image that is His Son... the skeptics would do the same thing they did then: kill him. Sad... but true. History wells shows that earthling man... regardless of where he hails from... really doesn't do "well" with those who are not "like" him.

    Again, I bid you peace!

If you are still pulling weeds, it must still be relatively warm. I envy that!

I don't know...I mean, as a group I don't think so but I think that as individulas that you might be right, but...

What event would convince you 100% or 99% ( 100 is pretty tough for anyone) of God?

What event to you think you could expereicne that, under the scrutiny of an atheist or a believer of different beliefs, you would be able to STILL believe with the same degree of certainity you felt when it happened to you?
