Some nice people have made a site so we can keep track of when armagedon is due:

    http://wecantknow.com/

(well, it would be terribly embarassing to miss it!)

So there it is folks, dont bother loosing weight, turning in old library books or worry about finances. Armageddon is imminent so you might as well give your money to the nice people who predict it since you wont be needing them in the post-apocalyptic world (but jesus will, ofcourse).

There is also a pretty good list of failed prophecies: http://tacomaatheists.com/eotw

Well, I can remember one fine day when they predicted Armageddon would be on June 12, 2007. Trouble, June 13 came as I expected it would.

I am making the same prediction now. May 22, 2011 is going to come, and nothing of consequence is going to happen.

Harold Camping is a complete tosspot, didn't he predict the end in the 1990's as well?

I'm going to a concert on the 23rd of May, I have complete confidence that the Royal Albert Hall will still be standing and Roger Hodgson will be playing his classic songs.

hey bohm ! shouldn't it be the other way round, about money etc.

If these guys are so sure of their prophecy, should they not be willing to sell their whole worldly worth to you for $1 , but you cannot collect until May 22nd 2011 ?

If they are not prepared to put their money where their mouth is, why don't they just S.T.F Up ?

This little challenge is good for JW's too, if they go on about the "End is soooooo close" ask what 10 or 20 years ? They won't be specific , but still challenge them to sell their all to you for $1 and you, or your heirs, will collect in say 30 years time. 30 years is not close.

Again, if they wont do it, then they to should keep quiet.

Wobble: I am CERTAIN doing such a thing would make Jesus very, very mad ;-). I would suppose a JW would complain you did not risk anything in the bet - ie. he could not win anything.

I have toyed with the idea of betting for example 1000$ armageddon wont come in a year - i give the money now so he can spend them in this world, and he will give me 2000$ back in a year unless armageddon has arrived. It would be a fair wager. This way, one could estimate the "half-life" of the pre-apocalyptic world :-).

I wonder if its such a silly idea, one could perhaps use it to measure objectively how "imminent" different apocalyptic groups thought the end of the world was.

Soldier77: Good idea! I didnt think about that.

Mouthy: you poor thing! But i have a feeling that if you call the guy on may 20, 2011 and tell him you have prayed intensely that God would postpone armageddon for your birthday, he will be quite happy!
