It was shit! We had to stand outside in all weathers like we were the elite police for the kingdum hell. When all the cars were in we had to lock the gates but a few years ago when we had all finisied the brain washing meeting the gates had been super glued shut by some smack heads!! and no one could get out .lol We had to call the fire service to get us out as we did not have bolt cutters as part of our kingdum tool kit"!!! They were not happy turning out to this call.

What was your memories of been a parking attendant at the meetings or at the conventions?

A funny story as a carpark attendant. The brother I work with was

A very large muscular man( he work for the city on the trash trucks

so lifting those trash cans every day put on the muscles) One nite

doing the meeting we were out patrolling the parking lot and we

notice three young men acting suspicious, so the brother told me

stand back in the shadow and lets see what they are up too.

Now as I mention the brother was huge, my weight at the time

was 170lbs. he lift me over his head like I was child, so I felt very

comfortable working with the brother. So the young men pass us

while we were hiding in the bush, as if this would hide this

brother. Well as they got about 50 feet down the road one

young man pull his pant down and told us to kiss his as----.

Since I was new As A JW I could not understand why he did that.

Thinking about it today, he (the kid) probably went to another

    KH in the area.

I did that for several years.

This kingdom hall was in a (very!) high crime area, and surrounded by an 8 foot high security fence:

    - so we had to keep the gate locked at all times.

It actually wasn't too bad - the hall was uphill from the carpark, and the carpark was intensely lit by security lights.

The carpark attendant could sit just inside the doorway, and observe not only the carpark, but also the entrance from the street.

It did have the benefit of stopping me from going to sleep during the meetings!

    Bill.

No one directed traffic into our KH, no real need, people know how to drive and park in an empty spot. Never understood why some KH's had a car park attended...

I was however one of the few who did 'security' during the meeting. Now this was a REAL privilege because you were given a green light to leave the boring meeting and hang out in the car park. Now that was a privilege I wanted, thank you Joe Hoover!!!
