  i used to ask myself, how come jws never or rarely sin. how do they manage to obstain from almost everything which is enjoyable all there entire life?

  its imaginable to obstain from all the good stuff for a while, but your whole life????

  i used to get the impression, when anything becomes kinds of fun, or there´s a nice feeling to it, then it has to do something with the devil!

  from all the cong members, i was probably the one with the most jc´s. but at the same time i wondered how the others manage to stay loyal. what advantage did they have? or am i just a week person? are they gifted in a very special way? are they übermenschen or herrenmenschen?????

  it really used to bug me.

  You missed out on the Shleibermenschen.... that's what happened. Or it could have been the Praglermenschen...

  sounds like you were just unlucky in getting caught. definition of a jw?? is a hypocrite.

  Broken Promises

  To abstain from the forbidden pleasures of life, you basically had to disconnect yourself from your feelings, in order to "put on the new personality".

  That's the only way I could do it, anyway. Oh that, and fear of being exterminated by God.

  Yep, most of the JW's I know or ever knew are and were leading double lives. Heck, if I had never opened up my own mouth to the elders, they never would have been able to nail me on anything.

  to prodigalson,

  i couldn´t really tell at that time wheter other brothers were leading doubles lives. i wasn´t a born in, or had family and relatives in the org. so it was not so easy to look behind the walls.

  later on, i heard about occational alcohol abuse, and that one brother was gay, but that´s about it.

  how high do you reckon the procentage of an average cong leading a double life? what do you consider a double life?

  As I have been out for a while now, I have found out about many past skeletons in people who I thought were perfect. Most are human. I bet most crossed the line at some point.

  The double life thing, varian, while almost everyone was lying about something either big or small, has mostly to do with sex. I am hard pressed to think of any of the people I knew that weren't "fondling" or actually having sex before marriage in secret. Many of the married people were having affairs too. And then, we took a poll one day while we were all pretty drunk at a party (which in itself breaks the rules), and there was not one person who had the nerve to deny that they masturbated regularly. You know, the elders would quote Jesus saying that even the thought of having sex with someone was the same as doing it, so according to what we were told, even a wet dream was a sin. It didn't seem to matter that it happened during sleep. Just a slight technicality!
