"I explain how I learned from A History of God by Karen Armstrong that the evidence indicates that the Jewish concept of monotheism evolved from the syncretism of various polytheistic sources like Canaanite and Babylonian polytheism."

I tell you what... when I was in the Org, I found religion to be one of the most boring topics humanly conceivable, but now that I have a different perspective, I find it infinitely fascinating.

whereami: You beat me to it. This guy's entire video series has been quite interesting to follow. I can relate to his journey, having come from a similar background of sorts. No matter what we individually believe, I think it's good to listen to others describe their journey, etc.

I recommend a couple of similar books that shed brilliant light on early religion: Armstrong's Case for God and Robert Wright's The Evolution of God. Both well documented and balanced in their approach.

I agree LWT. His whole series, in my opinion, is a must for anyone that is really interested in what one goes through on their journey too truth.

Absolutely, as long as we always keep in mind that it is THEIR journey, that it si THEIR opinion and that there is always more to every story.
