Should i publish what i write?

I have written an article mainly with my teenagers in mind as a way of hopefully reaching them.

I plan on writing more... subjects such as 'should you get baptised?, What happens after baptism?, Teenage marriage etc. The subjects are aimed squarly at teenage jehovahs witnesses. I feel a bit passionate about that, as i see them being crucial to the survival of the WT and the more teens freed from them the better.

two are written already, in a no nonsense reality approch. One has been edited by 3 fabulous posters here and is ready (i hope!) for presenting to my kids as papers left lying around or even, ''please read this''...

I realize others may be interested in seeing them so,

I have come up with a 'name' for the little publications that distances them from me personally, If i do make them public i intend for others to be able to freely print and distribute...should i still put a copyright on them?

Having a look at GNU but not sure i want to allow people to 'modify' it...so perhaps copyright with allowance of reproduction?

kind of want to mimic some sort of WT ism but have to be carefull it doesnt smack of anti JW either or look like its poking fun at them or it could put them off straight away.

have one in mind that makes it plain that is a reality based paper without any mention of WT or JWs on the cover, other of course than questions aimed at them.

oz, there are other "open" options i believe where your work must not be altered, but can be distributed intact (and freely).

What things are you trying to avoid by putting copyright on it?

oz, what about submitting your articles to a website like Freeminds?

They have a section for "Articles", some of them show the name of the author, others just say, "By Freeminds Contributor."

Freeminds was the first website I went to when I started searching and over the years I have read of quite a few other posters who had this as their starting point.

@bohm, i do want to avoid people altering my work, as humble an effort as it may be, they are my thoughts, my reasoning.

I do want to be able to share it and allow others to share it, print it, quote it, link it, whatever. But I am not looking for regognition

i dont know all the ins and outs of 'publishing' something so i ask the dumb questions...

I'm an American lawyer. copyright law will differ. I would think that consulting with a specialized lawyer might be worth it. The issue isn't only copyright but what your plans are overall, what options you can alter later, a business plan (even if you want to do it nonprofit). Many lawyers offer free or very low-cost consultations. It suppose it depends on how serious you are. Preparing for such a meeting might help you clarify your needs.
