That's hilarious. Well...he took his pranking seriously. No half assed attempt from him.
They should take away his Medicare coverage.
10 yrs for killing a tree??!! Cripes, you get less time for killing a person. Then, there's all those lumbering companies cutting old growth forests, destroying jungles, etc, etc, etc. They get paid big money for killing trees. Crazy.

These are very special trees.
This is terrible. WTH is wrong with this guy???
I hope this dumbass goes to jail for a good long time.

Hoping for a miracle...

I'm a tree lover, too, especially special trees. But, 10 yrs seems a bit much for killing one, or however many there were. It's not been proven, yet, that trees are senscient. New trees can be jambed into the ground w those big machines that they got, now. They could even put in fairly big ones.

1 to 10. Murder is what 20-life? The guy won't get 10. How can you be that stupid at 62? That's the real crime.

From my quick googling around it looks like a few 130 year old oak trees are worth at least $200,000 dollars.
How long should he go to jail for the malicious distruction of over $200,000 worth of property?

Yeah I gotta partially agree with the strict sentence. Not that I give 2 craps about some trees. If he owned the trees I wouldn't care if he took a chainsaw too them and made a big "Screw you (insert other team name here) " sign out of them.
But they belong to someone else, and they are very expensive and difficult to replace. It's the same as if he had placed TNT in some historical building (Which I also wouldn't care about if he actually owned it.) or sunk a $200,000 boat. (Again, if it's his, don't care)
