Why does every waking moment need to be filled with something?!

When was the last time you just kicked back and daydreamed, got lost in a novel or wasted an afternoon listening to your old L.P's? The world is so fast, work has deadlines, housework must get done and when you think you've finally caught up another pile of tasks lands in your 'in tray'.

I want to be a tortoise!

I want to feel the cool grass on my belly, the hot, hot sun on my back and not to be thinking of anything at all! How can we slow down and be like a tortoise? How do we pull ourselves into our shells and hide away from the bedlam for a while? I'm not too sure but I'm going to switch this laptop off, pour myself a scotch and listen to Bach's Violin Concerto in E tonight . The house is quiet and so am I.

My name is Nic' and this evening I'm going to be tortoise

In my living room I have a statue of the Tortoise and the Hare. It's to remind me that the swift do not have the race always. I have a painting of a little dragon, dancing merrily with the caption: "Don't forget to stop and eat the roses." My priest tells me that I am Benedictine. Benedictine monks and nuns live a paced, slower life, deliberately.
