Decisions, decisions! First Bethel tours. Is "Apostate Insurance" next?

Too bad that some form of apostate insurance wasn't available in 1975. It might have at least partially covered losses of homes and other personal assets sustained by many Jehovah's Witnesses who suffered from an old revisited apostate teaching. This teaching was spread again, over a century later, by the Watchtower Society.

The Society has a propensity of repeating itself at approximately 100 year intervals.

The apostate teaching that resulted in widespread losses from JWs selling everything they owned, was speculation that six thousand years from the creation of Adam were completed in A.D. 1975. Thus in A.D. 1975, we were supposed to have chronologically entered upon the seventh day or Millenium where Christ and the anointed were to rule over Earth from the heavens above. Personal assets, bank accounts and other personal wealth of the "old system" was supposed to have become worthless.

The reasoning by many as 1975 approached went something along the lines of, Why not sell everything, and donate it to the Society? Live off credit cards! These were expected to become worthless pieces of plastic real soon, and if the institutions were destroyed then the debt was forgiven! You might think of this as a sort of "theocratic bankruptcy"! ;-)

Some might wonder why I said this scenario was "old" and one of the Watchtower Society's repeats?

Check this out, along with some other unsettling historical quotes:

Six Thousand years from the creation of Adam were complete in A.D. 1872, and hence that since A.D. 1872, we chronologically entered upon the seventh thousand or the Millenium.

When 1872 passed without event, the Society moved the date 103 years later.

Now that 1975 has passed without event, will it get revised once again another 100+ years? Perhaps 2078 is really the correct year? Fast forward to the turn of the century in the year 2100. Do you suppose we are finally in the seven thousandth year? No? Don't worry, the Society will undoubtedly revised the date forward another 100+ years. Perhaps 2181 is really when JWs should consider selling everything, and living off credit cards in anticipation for the dawn of the Millenium under Christ?

Perhaps an enterprising brother will open a business that will reside at this link some time in the future:

In the event you sell-off everything in anticipation for Armageddon as a result of the Society's teachings, your Apostate Insurance umbrella (as a rider to your homeowners policy) kicks in. This insurance could entitle you to reimbursement of all assets sold-off based on the fair market value of these possessions.
