This is a great link and mentions things we know about, all to well.

My favorite part, the term ...

cognitive dissonance - The mental turmoil provoked by holding contradictory ideas simultaneously

Enjoy, I love who the Jehovah's Witnesses are grouped with. Yes, their not a cult, right?

Tab 10 is the part on JWs for those that wish to cut to the chase.

Thanks for that link Free, it kinda surreal at times reading other's views on JWs and JW history. Weird.

Wow! The JWs get a mention on slide 10, right along with the UFO cult, David Koresh, and Marshall Applewhite. Not good company to be in!

That is what I was thinking. Kind of a great way to see how society really sees them. Especially when we were told they were so respected, etc.

Sending link to hubby - wondering how a JW on the edge of expectation might see it.

I just got back from the book store, and there was a book titled along the lines of Everything You Want To Know About the Bible, or something like that, i can't recall. The first thing I did was go to the glossary and see if JWs are in there. Sure enough, they were. So I turned to the page it listed, and it mentioned the Bible Students background, but also that the New World Translation was an inaccurate Bible translation modified to fit JW doctrine. It made me smile, but surprised me too because the book was unbiased, it's just a quick reference guide on various Christian religions and their doctrines, and origins. Its so fascinating to how others view JWs. When your still a believing JW, you think the world revolves around you, but it doesn't, you're really a nonfactor.

    you're really a nonfactor.

I think it was LWT who called them "a fart in the wind" A classic quote I try to remember when I think how they have affected me. Unfortunately I know they have more power than that, with 7 million held captive. But when you compare that to the nearly 7 BILLION now living, they are only touching one out of a thousand. Still too many, but with the internet taking hold worldwide hopefully they will start to decline over the next decade.

According to slide #13, Camping had made a previous prediction that the world would end on September 6, 1994. It's been claimed that his prediction wasn't absolute, since his book 1994? had a question mark on the title.

Even though he made strong statements about the year 1994, Camping did weasel out by saying that the dates were not absolute
