"Jah"

Given the emphasis the WTS places on using and exalting the name "Jehovah," why do they allow JWs to refer to him as "Jah"?

I suppose it's a term of endearment and an abbreviation as in "hallelujah."

But, really, did the Israelites call Abraham "Abe"? Jacob "Jake"? Joseph "Joe"? Moses "Moe"? Joshua "Josh"? Samuel "Sammy"? David "Dave"? Solomon "Sol"?

Would a JW get away with referring to Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, and Franz as "Chuck, Joe, Nate, and Freddy"?

I suppose that because it's in the Bible, that makes it acceptable.

All I know is, whether I had called my father "Louis" or "Lou", I would have gotten my ass kicked.

    finallyfree:

"Jah" (pronounced Yah) is His name. Using the NWT, read Psalm 68:4 and Psalms 148, 149, and 150. Jahveh (pronounced "Yahweh") is the Tetragrammaton (4 letters making up God's name) and means "Jah of Armies"--it is His name along with His descriptive. This should answer your question, I think.
