i started meditating a while back.

Just 15 minutes in the afternoon.

I got Dr Patricia Cameron's "Learn to Meditate" course. it is called Standardised meditation, because it does not require any belief in Gurus or Maharishis and religious teachings.

Then I subscribed to the Aro meditation course. Each week you get an emailed lesson and an assignment.

I found it very helpful. Some people don't like the Aro as they broke away from their master. But thats a good thing - real Buddhism does not expect you to "follow" anybody or force you to believe anything you dont want to.

I am calmer, more self possessed, and dont worry about the future now.

    Go for it.

I don't know how naturally adept you are. You could do a general research through google. There are many different kinds. You could try some. It's best to stick to one type, once you find something that works for where you are at. A simple one is the breath focus - sit in an upright chair, simply focus on your breathing for about 15 minutes.

It may be chi or qi energy that you are talking about. Qi is a socalled subtle energy which we all have. It circulates inside us. Acupuncture is supposed to be based on this. It is also in plants, animals. Stars like the sun give it off. Through sun focused breathing at sunrise or sunset you can take it in. It's something you need to learn a bit about, before you do it. Check out qi gong or fulan gong.

My opinion is it is better to find your own way to meditate than to follow someone else's formula. The only real requirement is to be still physically and focus on breathing when you start out. Other than that there is no correct way to meditate, IMO.
