Life is always contingent.
It requires effort or it expires.
You can't just sit. You'd starve and atrophy and your mind would vegetate.
What do people live for?
OPPORTUNITY.
The possibility of making existence a pleasure.
The mental attitude most conducive to pursuing opportunity is HOPE.
Creating an emotional climate in which effort can bring rewards allows ambition to take root and plans to be made.
Social connections are established and goals are set.
The mind tackles the problems and obstacles to joy and pleasure by seeking KNOWLEDGE and applying principles toward fruition.
DESIRE can be converted into realization through an active, methodical, planned and purposeful approach to a good life well-lived.
So, I'd say OPPORTUNITY.
