  Our local newspaper reported the following today: 'Rest on the Sabbath. Heed Old Testament dietary codes. And be ready for Jesus to return at any moment. If these practices sound quaint, think again. They're hallmarks of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the fastest growing Christian denomination in North America. Newly released data show Seventh-day Adventism growing by 2.5 percent in North America, a rapid clip for this part of the world, where other church groups are declining. Adventists are growing 75 percent faster than Mormons ( 1.4 percent ) who prioritize growth.'

  Several years back when I was associated with JW's, we made the claim and boasted that Jehovah's Witnesses were the fastest growing religion! Now of course when they are not, they revert to the old standby saying, ' Narrow is the gate, and few are the ones finding the right path as opposed to the wide road to destruction! Either way, the Witnesses have an answer for everything that happens.

  They probably could have grown much larger and faster had they treated their people like human beings rather than 'rank & file' peons. But alas, they didn't have the brains or forthought to do anything like that!

  Bottom line, it's no fun being a JW- work, work and more work for them to do from the loving GB at WT offices. They believe that, because they tell them so at every assembly.

  Didn't Charles Taze Russell get some of his ideas about Christianity from the Adventists?

  Witnesses probably have the largest amount of converts compared to their active membership but also the largest turnover.

  Pew Research: Jehovah's Witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition. Only 37% of all those who say they were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses still identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses.

  It's all in how you look at the statistics. People still claim that JW's are the fastest growing religion in percentages in the US (what was it 2% last year?) but then on the other hand, Islam is worldwide because they also claim the babies and the countries they rule over.

  That is right, but it was an earlier version of Adventism. The Second Adventists, followers of William Miller, are the common ancestor of both the Seventh-Day Adventists (founded by Ellen White) and also the Bible Students of Charles Taze Russell. Other groups that sprang from Miller's Second Adventists are Christadelphians and the Branch Davidians.

  Many would argue (and I agree) that the Watchtower/Jehovah's Witness organization is a different faith, an offshoot of Russell's Bible Students. Though they pay him honor as their founder, the Watchtower now considers many of Russell's teachings and practices to be heretical. Some remaining Bible Student groups, not affiliated with the Watchtower, remain closer to Russell's original teachings.

  Why do only 37% of people who were raised as JWs stick with their heritage and continue as JWs?

  Primarlily this is because the religion is effing INSANE.

  Anyone with intelligence eventually figures this out.

  Then, those with intelligence who eventually do figure it out, need to have a measure of courage to actually leave.

  Sadly some with weak intestinal fortitude stay in despite the fact they know it's evil.

  In the end 63% of all people raised as JWs are both SMART enough and COURAGEOUS enough to get the hell out.

  And that my friends, is THE TRUTH.
