A 103 year miss on a prediction is a pretty large miss, wouldn't you say?

Which time did the "mouthpiece of God", the "faithful and discreet slave" give us
    "food at the proper time."??

    1872
SIX THOUSAND YEARS OF HUMAN EXISTENCE END (The Time Is At Hand, p. 54).

    1966
"According to this trustworthy Bible chronologysix thousand years from man's creation will end in 1975...." The seventh millennium is to "...begin in the fall of 1975 C.E." And the "reign of Jesus Christ ... to run parallel with the seventh millennium..." (Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God, pp. 29-30).

What exactly do they mean: trustworthy Bible chronology??

"Trustworthy Bible chronology" means Freddy believed it.

As used by the WTS "food at the proper time" is a phrase that covers a multitude of WT errors.

JWs rarely ask themselves the following question:

Did Jehovah really want JWs to erroneously believe that Armageddon was coming in 1914? In 1918? In 1925? In 1941? In 1975?

If you are an agent or representative of a corporation and you make claims in that corporations name that are false claims...WHO GETS SUED?

the CORPORATION is held accountable for the misrepresentations.

JEHOVAH'S witnesses really did him proud. JEHOVAH bears the brunt of the embarrassment.

    Could this qualify as blasphemy?

I still want SOMEBODY at headquarters to tell me what was so freakin' IMPORTANT about 1975 considering the fact it WASN'T about the start of Armageddon!

Remember all that follow up nonsense about >>>How long Adam was alone in Eden before Eve was created?

    I give up: HOW LONG??

    TERRY:

I still want SOMEBODY at headquarters to tell me what was so freakin' IMPORTANT about 1975 considering the fact it WASN'T about the start of Armageddon!

Remember all that follow up nonsense about >>>How long Adam was alone in Eden before Eve was created?

    I give up: HOW LONG??

Very good observation. The WTS was in such a hurry, they proposed that Adam, an emotional and psychological one year old was given a wife the next year. Even under normal development adulthood is not reached until 18-21 years of age. Why would God saddle Adam with a wife after only one year. He was to live for hundreds of years so "What's the rush?"

By contrast, the Bible doesn't tell us how old Adam was when Eve was created. That means we can't predict the exact end of the 6th Creative Day, regardless of our presumptions. But noting that, age 30 makes more sense. Jesus was 30 years of age when he began his ministry. Jesus was an exchange for Adam and what was lost, so I prefer 30 years of age because it is an age of maturity and adulthood and has symbolic reference in regards to the age of Jesus when he became the messiah. In that case, I consider 1975 to be at least 29 years too early based on the WTS chronology.

But the WTS chronology is 127 years too early anyway. The Exodus occurs in 1386 BCE based on the 70th jubilee occurring in 1947; the WTS misdates it to 1513 BCE. The chronology from the Exodus back to creation of man is fairly standard. So a more reasonable date, to me is 2131 AD to end 6000 years.

    1975 + 29 + 127 = 2131 AD

That's a long while off! So why have the 1st resurrection occur along with the 2nd coming in 1992? People who are resurrected would die again if the millennium didn't begin until 2131 AD. Thus another misconception is that the millennium is the absolute last 1000 years.

If we take as a cue that Revelation 21:5 stating "I'm making all things new" as an indicator the 8th Creative Day begins at that time, then you have t allow time after the millennium for two events:

    1) Satan being let loose for a "short while" to test post-millennial mankind; and

    2) JUDGMENT DAY, which follows Satan's death!

These events are the last details to take place during the 7th Creative Day so that when the 8th Creative Day begins, the world is in its right condition. There is no left-over business from the 7th Creative Day. Thus the 1000-year reign of Christ is moved up just a bit to allow for this last bit of 7th Creative Day business to take place after the millennium.

If Satan's "short time" is a half generation, say 20 years, and Judgment Day is 100 years, then we have to allow 120 years prior to 2131 for Armageddon which is then followed by the millennium.

    2131 - 120 = 2011 AD.

Now if Adam were 20 when Eve was created, we'd have to move that back to 2001, which did not see Armageddon.

If we presume Adam was 40 when Eve was created, we can move that down to 2021 AD. But that also means Satan's "short while" would be around 29 years, rather than 20 years if the millennium begins by December 21, 2012.

In the meantime, look at word events. The dollar is about to collapse and legislation is already in place to "end the Federal Reserve!" That is a key event that will mark the destruction of BTG! BTG is the 4th beast of Daniel 7 and thus when the UN destroys the Federal Reserve, Armageddon will follow in the next 15 months. So things look very good for 2011 AD.

Plus the Bible says God does nothing without warning his prophets first and Harold Camping makes reference to the very scripture. So we can't say, IF BTG gets destroyed around May 2011 or before that God didn't warn his prophets first. Now the Bible specifically says that God would pour his holy spirit out on old and young just before Armageddon. So there would be many prophets shining like stars out there. This is made possible by the internet an modern communications. But Harold Camping is pretty "old", so he would qualify!

So combining world events, the improved and corrected chronology, etc. the 2nd coming occurring in 1992, the sealing of the 144,000 finished in May of 2008, the unpopularity of the Federal Reserve, we have every reason to expect the "great tribulation" could happen soon. I've even heard the dollar is supposed to crash in May 2011k AD. We'll see!!

    You've gotta love CHRONOLOGY!

It is the kissing cousin of PYRAMIDOLOGY.

Jehovah's Witnesses are really keen on charts, graphs, parallels, shadows of this and that and frequently succumb to the temptation

to indulge in the "could well mean...."

But, since the advent of the Internet and following the complete and utter failure of 1975 to produce anything but RED FACES......

those parlor magic tricks have been taken away and hidden in a trunk.

The old "proofs" and wild claims have been recalled like a stuck brake pedal on a Toyota.

The Pyramid Inch never existed until invented or coined by Pyramidologists as a mcguffin to "explain" their crank system.

The Absolute Date was concocted by Fred Franz to anchor his sytem of chronology and make it seemingly plausible.

Today's rabid Apocalypse espousers such as LaHaye with his LEFT BEHIND series or Hal Lindsey with his LATE GREAT planet Earth reincarnations

always find a way to take any handy world event and glue it to bible verses to launch into prophetic crap and sell their books.

    There is no "there" there.

    "You've gotta love CHRONOLOGY!

It is the kissing cousin of PYRAMIDOLOGY."

Another great quote from Terry !

I bumped this thread because it has occurred to me that the WT and other Bible Apologists/Literalists talk as though Bible Chronology was in some way beyond doubt. Sacrosanct, cannot be questioned, "Bible says it".

What nonsense, when you examine it carefully you can see that it is not meant to be taken as a literal, Historical Chronology, it is Mythical.

Hence the lovely round figures, which do not crop up in real life, the number 40 for instance, many times, and the 40 times 40 that we get from Adam to Abraham etc.

This mythical chronology, based in part on a real chronology no doubt, pre-supposes a Divine Plan behind the events of (mainly Jewish) History.

As Terry says, you've got to love Bible Chronology, " it's the kissing cousin of PYRAMIDOLOGY", and just as fanciful.
