Greetings to all! I am doing a statistical analysis on the how the United States economy affects on the number of publishers in the organization. I thought that the number of publishers would be in the WT 2010 cd-rom but it says to refer to the individual books or Watchtower. I need the past 50 years of publisher numbers to have a solid statistical breakdown. I’m hoping that a few people with access to these numbers could simply rely to this message and list the year/ publisher for the year/ number of those baptized. Thanks!

Once you have your figures, which I am sadly unable to help you with, it would be interesting to tot up how many in total were baptised over the period, subtract 1% a year for death, and see how many JW's there should be now.

This would give a good indication of how many leave, either DF or DA or simply walk away.

    Good luck !

I don't know of any place online with all this raw data, but jwfacts does have links to the service reports of 2007 through to 2010 on this page.

    http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/statistics.php

This site has the data back to 2002 but you need to click on each individual country.

    http://www.ilabmedia.com/service_year/

This site goes further back but only in graph form.

Did you try obtaining this information from the church headquarters before you asked their ex-members?

If possible, you should try to talk with and find current JWs. The ones who are the most affected will be at the Kingdom Hall in the mornings as they go out in door-to-door service. They have to pay gas. You probably want to not approach them that you are purely researching the JWs, as they will feel prosecuted and not give you good answers.

Thanks for the feed back. I actually called New York on Friday. According to the service department they would not release this information. I'm am going to try on Monday again.

Hi Scuba, I have a spreadsheet with US specific information of baptisms for the 20 years between 1985 and 2005. If that is of use pm me your email.

If you are visiting apostate sites, how do you know the figures are legitimate. The jehovah's witness site may have fudged figures but they will be legitimate ones. Anyone can set up a website and plug in numbers. If this is for homework, may I share a concern? I studied New Testament at Columbia University. We had to do a long research paper. There were topics that I was very enthused about learning more. I was drooling. My main goal was getting the best possible grade. I decided to choose only a topic of which I had no prior knowledge. It wasn't exciting but I earned my A+. My friends were Roman Catholics and chose topics dear to a Catholic. They all received far worse grades than normal.

Later, I took a small seminar on Jesus. All students had to well in New Testament in order to register for the course. The prof asked us to write down three adjectives for Jesus quickly. It was a Jungian exercise. I could only think of Witness lingo with the time pressure. We had to go round the class and reveal our adjectives. We all studied four versions of Jesus' life. The only ones who reported accurately were the Orthodox Jews studying to get an extra help on medical school.

I don't know the parameters of your project. Maybe you just have to show you know how to manipulate data. Most of us learn religion so young that it is hard to eliminate bias.

Can't you just make up data if it is not available?
