My husbands sister lives across the country from us . We have had little contact with her over the years . Since leaving the Witnesses I have tried to restablish their connections . Tomorrow is her 50th birthday so for the first time we sent her a present ......here is what she wrote on facebook this morning .
"I cried this am when a delivery was made. It is a birthday present from my brother and his wife. They were JW's so they did not celebrate holidays. Well today I received my first present ever from my brother and wife... a gorgeous music box that plays Irish eyes are smiling. I will keep this dear to my heart forever! How did they know I LOVE music boxes????? Thank you Brenda and Carl! It's the BEST! I love you guys "

Sometimes we spend a lot of time focused on the past and become bitter on what we have missed out on ,but moments like this remind me how important it is to make new memories NOW . Everyday we have the chance to do or say something that lifts someone else up .Don't pass up those moments because your angry over the past . That is why birthday's and holidays are so special to me now ....it means an oppurtunity to make a happy memory .

I called my sister in New York on Sunday to wish her a happy birthday.

    She turned 68.

You could hear the pleasure and love in her voice that I remembered.

It is so important to make these memories now as it helps us to move forward. I went and bought all my easter eggs this week for the kids including the hubby the biggest kid of all. I always feel so sorry for him that he has no clue about what to do to celebrate as he has no personnal experience. There is a whole world of living where we can be generous and joyful and is essential that our children learn this whilst they are still young enough.

Oh my goodness! I'm crying again.... I'm going to end up with permanent swollen eyes! Lol. TM that is wonderful! Really happy that your sister has accepted you for leaving the dubs and not held it against you.

I went and got a lot of supplies for Babysprouts egg hunt next weekend! I love it... I get really involved, i'm taken back to being a kid. lol

    Peace

Oh my God! I just stopped crying today and NOW I am crying again, but don't worry it is happy tears.

That is soo great. You know our "worldly" families are always willing to accept us back with open arms. Just proves the WT wrong for demonizing all of them in the first place. I am so happy for you.

Enjoy your family and your new life and that goes for everyone here. Lil

One act of kindness goes a long way, look how many people you made smile with that music box!
