What If You Attended As An Atheist?

Given the Weird World of the Watchtower, I do wonder if this has ever happened: a Witness keeps going to meetings as an atheist!

Suppose a baptised Witness tells his family and friends that he has lost all faith in God's existence but still attends meetings faithfully and is friendly, maybe even handing out the occasional tract!

I sometimes wonder if, since going to meetings is almost everything, if they would shrug their shoulders and accept it!

Crazier still, at one time, I did wonder if some Bethel 'heavies' might be closet atheists!

I know such a person. They are not open about it with fellow JW's but they have nothing to lose with me.

I figured as much. Any of you Apologists still want to argue that this isn't a cult?

I think openly stating "I am an atheist" in your Watchtower comments or from the platform would probably get you DF'ed for "causing divisions" or maybe even "apostasy".

But if not actively "promoting" it, there's not much they could do, or would even want to do. JWs nowadays flee from anything resembling confrontation or arguments, unless it is about "obeying the faithful slave".

JWs don't have much ability to defend their beliefs - they are only trained to present them, and then "don't waste time" if someone doesn't immediately accept them at face value.
