Hi all,
It seems to me that all the praying in the world does not make any difference, people die God's not concerned nor is the GB, and I think that all praying is highly concentrated wishing!!

That's one way to look at it I think. I no longer pray to God, for I don't believe any God exists, or if he does, he has long demonstrated lack of interest in mankind.
That said, I sometimes feel driven to express concerns deeply in what might appear, if observed, to be prayer. I focus my personal energy on the matter at hand in that way, expel frustration at the same time.
I don't know that 'wishing' is the right word. But perhaps for many that is a fit. "Please God, save ME! Please God, watch over ME and MY FAMILY!" seems to be a popular theme among many who pray to God. They wish for things to happen that will benefit themselves or others perhaps.
Interesting thought.

I have found prayer to be, at best, a complete waste of time. And more accurately a guarantee of not getting what I want.

I believe that to a be the case. Great choice of wording btw. I havent prayed to God since I was baptizes over four years ago but I still have a ton of responsibilities in the congregation. How does that work? Many JW's say how God will not take away our problems but will help us to endure as if we are totally and completelly helpless little nobody's without some divine intervention in every situation.
I remember a lot of experiences where a sister/brother prayed for help, and a few months later their answer was in a WT or other publication/talk/ comment etc. Yea right! There are so many articles in the WT and new publications, at SOME point, your "situation"(or something close to it) would be disussed in it. *sigh* /end rant.
