a younger woman from the KH i had attended
made a specific effort to greet me in the parking
lot of the grocery store after having walked past
my vehicle with my very obvious bumper stickers
for PFLAG and a political campaign... you know,
the kind of thing you notice on the way up to
a door to get a feel of who might answer ....
it was very causal, very quick and very awkward.....
THEN, we end up in the fruit/veg section together...
more awkwardness, as i toss off a compliment
about the hair color she is sporting, she laughs
and says it is "this or grey" and then leaves....
....only to COME BACK to tell me that my son
who works as a checker at the grocery store
"is always so pleasant and helpful"
true, it was hardly a revisit to the pretty close
relationship we had one time shared... i mean
really, i attended her at both her hospital births
as a labor coach, spent many nights at HER home
away from my family helping her take care of the
twins when they were newborn.... and done some
of the things for and with her that REAL friends do.....
but her family is (or at least was) HARD CORE...
so why would she go out of her way to even say "hi?"
i dunno, it seems like there could be a chink in the armor
and some JWs arent as compliant as they once were...
hard to say.... all i know is that i was pretty surprised
for all i know next time it could swing the other way
