Just a thought here but is this the only one, to actively discourage thorough thinking a religion tenants and leaving your reasoning and logical skills behind!!!

Not by far, there many religious organizations/cults that wish to and enforce strict guidelines by the set hierarchical leaders.
A matter of fact some even insist that the children attend the religions own school and any thought or notion of wanting to attend a school outside
of the organization is strictly forbidden.
Controlling people minds is how cults like the JWS cull and maintain their many followers, which sustains the leaders power.
Thats why asking pertinent questions usually results be those ones being reprimanded by the in-place power figures ( elders ) .
