    Ginny Tosken's sensible words in:

    * http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=20973&site=3

    are food for thought for those who leap out from the Watchtower fire into some other cultic or other frying pan, which, while highly unlikely to be quite as perverted, destructive and wicked as the jehovah's Witnesses Organization, is at best half a solution.

    I agree with the Watchtower, wholeheartedly, on these ones:

    Religion is the chief means that puts fear into the minds of the people .. Truly then, as stated, 'religion is a snare and a racket,' employed to collect money from them under false representations.

    ***w88 4/1 16
    religion [is] a snare and a racket.

    It follows that I will not invite you OR EVEN PERMIT YOU to join my "religion". My "religion" has but one member, myself, and is guaranteed to die out when I die. The "Focus Class" referred to elsewhere is but one up from an empty set. If the "grace" vaunted by the monotheist is that he has at least one fewer god than the polytheist, then the atheist must be more graceful yet, as he has one fewer god still.

    To my thinking, anyway, religion and god have little to do with one another. I know religion exists, and I don't know whether god exists. If god shows up and makes its views, explanations and excuses known clearly, I'll make up my mind about it then. I've made up my mind about religion many moons ago.

    I'm often guilty of subtlety and the softly-softly approach, so I thought I should be emphatic for a change.

    Isn't a one on one relationship with God what matters anyways? I too am part of a one man religion, MINE! No, service hours, no meetings, no clergy, no DFing, no silly assed rules, no Governing Body, no magazines, no publications at all, no conventions, no suit and tie, no second class women, nothing at all, just me and God and my Bible study!

    No one has to agree with me and I don't try to make others feel as if they are stupid or a lessor being. It all stays between me and God. If someone does come along and agree with me, I invite them to form their own one person religion and keep between them and God.

    How much simpler can it be?

    If God's Spirit is filling a Kingdom Hall, how is it that Satan can manuever the ones within that Kingdom Hall at the same time?

    I could not agree anymore with that statement. Religion is indeed a snare and a racket!

    The only words I would perhaps add to that is “a man without religion is like a fish without a bicycle”; also just as true.

    Focus, you scared me there for a second. I thought that you were another JW here to scold us all.

    I agree with everything you mentioned.

    You would see snow in Hell before Focus would even consider visiting a KH, let alone becoming a Dub. Haven't you read all the stuff he's written for us on this board?

    I assure I can subvert and weaken the faith of God's people quite well face to face, albeit in a rather more subtle manner than employed here... Your conclusion, therefore, just may be wrong.
