Folk seldom like to reveal personal connections in 'public' - your friend may be here, and may have sent you a Personal Message.
Look at the top right hand corner of your screen, click on the blue envelope, then check to see if you have any messages under "Received".
If there is a message there for you, click on the title line. You will most likely get an error message the first time, as the system is a bit wonky that way, but just repeat the process, and the body of the message will come up.
