    S-2 form 1987

Today I uploaded a new article to my blog addressing the process and documentation of local elders and circuit overseers recommending men as elders and/or ministerial servants, and how Watchtower notified local elders of their response to their recommendations. This article includes a view of the document involved.

The article is titled S-2 form 1987 and is available at: http://marvinshilmer.blogspot.com/2011/05/s-2-form-1987.html

    A Paradox

This 1987 S-2 form is a bit of a collector’s item because it details something that was henceforth removed, and for good reason. It is surprising that one of the more detail oriented readers on this forum has not already picked up on it and remarked for what it means.

I think I’ll sit and see what you guys can mine, at least for now. There is a piece of treasure; I promise.

Is it the Governing Body's approval?

The level of detail required in the 1987 form regarding reasons for reproof and/or deletions is potentially contentious.

The fact that Watchtower instructed elders to include the reason for a past disfellowshipping on the S-2 form means as a matter of practice Watchtower was having the confidentiality of the judicial committee breached.

The ecclesiastical privilege based on strict confidentiality is now and always has been a myth in the Watchtower judicial system, and only reason courts have not seen otherwise until fairly recently is that the practices engaged in Watchtower’s system were not adequately revealed and evidence to the courts.
