I'm asking this because I was told that the GB is really running the show? Is it the GB, or the president?
Why does the watchtower still have a president? (And is the GB really 'running the show?')

Isn't it a legal requirement for the corporation, like the board of directors, the members, and the annual general meeting.

It has been said that neither the GB nor the directors are running the show these days, but the lawyers.

I have to strongly agree with this notion.

I guess they have to have the lawyers running the show, they have gotten themselves into so much Pooh they don't know which way to turn, so instead of relying on God, they have their lawyers instead.

Actually, each WT corporation (and there are many) has its own president, secretary, treasurer....and so forth. Even now there is not one president over only big corporation. It always was a legal issue. Before the 70's there was no governing body in the WTS as we know it today. There was a Board of Directors, president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer made up of anointed male jws. At one point in the late 40's, Hayden Covington (not anointed then) was selected but then turned it down because of his non-anointed status. I think it was in 2000 that the WTS in writing separated the functions of the corporations from the GB (so-called) and non-anointed male jws are for the most part the members of the boards of the numerous WT corporations.
