I was just thinking about the Internet transforming JW land. They employ the latest tech. to get their message across. Strangers must look them up on the Internet. When they do, they prob. go to wikpedia's article. There thanks to the ongoing battle between former Witnesses, Witnesses, and scholars, information is instantly accessible. I found this site through wikipedia.
A google search returns this site within four listings. Discussions sound more interesting than reading text. Once here, can anyone just read JW.org with the same gullibility? The traffic here is large with a very active board. It is clear that dissidents have strong feelings. I bet the varieties of writing syles here and viewpoints must impress people that perhaps the WT is a cult.
In my day, people wondered. Most knew about flag salute, blood or holidays but usually one distortion. It must cost the Society a pretty penny to maintain their sites and protect from hackers. It makes me laugh that all their effort is compromised by this site.
I always relate how reading the Bible in consecutive verses convinced me that they are liars. Information negates belief. I was born in so I had no exposure to an outside world. Many not well-educated people believe the Witnesses are Bible scholars. With the wealth of Bible info on the Internet, it is hard to maintain. More than thumping the Bible is needed. Those cable TV shows of fundies that drive me crazy must also diminsh the Witnesses as knowng their Bibles. Billy Graham or any minor televangelist can take them anytime.
I am curious if foreign language sites exist. People post here about demonstrations and law suits in European countries.
