Is there a grey zone in terms of authority over a young witness?

I am certain that the child of a Jehovah's witness family is under the authority of the father. I am sure the young daughter of this witness, who marries another witness (or anyone, for that matter) is under the "headship" of the man she marries. But, what would happen if the child, male or female, were, say, 25, and already held a job? Does such a person remain under the authority of the father? Is there such thing as an age when your parents cease to have control over you, not by virtue of "the laws of the land" but as a result of the Watchtower doctrine?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to post.

If you live under your parent's roof, they have authority over you.

Want to be independent? Get your own place.

Even then, though, there's a gray zone - but it is for YOU.

How much authority do YOU have over your life? Is there any part of your life that isn't under the control of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society?

You may think, "yes, I can select my favorite flavor of ice-cream." But what if someone objects to your choice of ice-cream flavors? Wouldn't it be better to lose the ice-cream and gain your brother?

My sister was 28 when she married and moved out of home. She was technically under Dad's authority while living at home, in the sense that he could make the rules and she had to abide by them. However, she was a pioneer and goody-goody JW so it wasn't like she was rebellous or anything. (Just very very stubborn, lol!)

She married and went straight from her father's home to her new husband's home and his headship.

Me: I got kicked out of home at 18 so I was a free agent from the get-go.
