On June 9, 2011, the Center for Inquiry-New York City and NYC Skeptics hosted noted skeptic and bestselling author Michael Shermer for a talk about his new book, "The Believing Brain: From Ghosts and Gods to Politics and Conspiracies—How We Construct Beliefs and Reinforce Them as Truths." The event was held at the Auditorium on Broadway. This is the full video, including both the talk and question-and-answer session.

He was in Berkeley and San Francisco, CA about 3 weeks ago for a similar event.

I didn't know he was a Born Again Christian in his earlier years.

I'm about half-way through the book. So far, a very good, reasonable, surprisingly non-polemic read.

LeavingWT: Is there a way to burn this onto a CD?

Magwitch: Please be a little more specific. Do you want an offline copy to give to someone to view on their Mac/PC? Exactly what is your goal? Knowing this will allow me to better answer your question.

Magwitch: It can be done, but it's not exactly simple. Further, it would (technically) violate YouTube's Terms of Service. (Someone else may have a suggestion, but this is all I'm comfortable saying on the topic. I hope you'll understand.)

    4. General Use of the Service—Permissions and Restrictions

    2. You agree not to alter or modify any part of the Service.
    3. You agree not to access Content through any technology or means other than the video playback pages of the Service itself, the Embeddable Player, or other explicitly authorized means YouTube may designate.

Thanks LeavingWT...I guess I can always play it on my phone while I am in the car. It looks really interesting, and so does the book. Thank you for posting this.
