Astounding . . . I'm not sure even the current GB policy would require that sort of reaction. WTS propaganda gets some people believing they're getting an infusion of demon-juice or something to make them so emotional.
No doubt if she died anyway it would be the Dr's fault . . . and the family's experience would make a good WT article. The fact she survived doesn't prove the need for the transfusion as far as JW's are concerned . . . their literature is so one-sided, the family will be convinced she would have fared better without it anyway.
And the one who's life it actually is . . . get's no choice. Thanks to those who are entrusted with her care being insistent and courageous . . . she at least gets to fight another day.
This is an extraordinary story. I know Witnesses, including an elder on the hospital liaison committee, who can "prove" that as well as being wrong, blood transfusions are very dangerous.
More than that, they cite cases where the person wasn't really critically ill. It was all fabricated by the doctors....who, of course, have nothing better to do with their time than make up risks to malign JW's!
Bottom line: The child is NOT one of Jehovah's Witnesses, her parents are. She should not be expected to follow the religious choices of her parents in matters of life and death until she is old enough to choose them for herself.
@Chariklo you're full of sheeeeit, How can a doctor fake the girl's URINE BEING so Dark that it looks like Coca-Cola. Urine and Blood tests are documented and archived. So just because you are a Witness and know someone on the HLC, big WHUP! What witness DOESN'T know a brother on the HLC in their area. I'm not impressed. Could your source PROVE that really? Like how so many ex-JWs PROVE how wrong the WTBTS and GB are about almost EVERYTHING!?? - this means provide REAL PROOF, Scriptural, scanned documents, links.... give us some!
Also...the bible only speaks of taking in blood by eating it. As a nutritional source. Jesus wants Mercy not Sacrifice. You would rather sacrifice a child's life to look good to the GB who don't give 2 squirts about you.
Ciao
terrible
@Chariklo you're full of sheeeeit
Hey RagingBull . . . knowing Chariklo a little . . . I don't think she necessarily espouses the attitudes and opinions she cited . . . she's not a JW
I hear you, Charilko. I've concluded that the WTBTS is deceptive by mixing pseudo-science with their stand on blood. It is unethical and deceiving. If they had stayed strictly with their biblical prohibition, admitting that in some cases this prohibition would lead to certain death, they would be more honest.
Instead, they exaggerate the dangers of blood, and diminish the risks.
I discussed this at length with a JW apologist, djeggnog.
I note from the article that the doctors contunued to engage the parents for several hours until they came to an agreement. I am glad the girl survived.
RagingBull---- If you'll notice the punctuation in Charilko's post, you will see that the comments were more that of a sarcastic nature, and meant as a mockery of the Org....
