Here's a cool article from space.com for some evolution discussion. I'm no expert, but it's an interesting read anyway. I think it's so cool to think of life on other planets, even if it's just a few microbes.

Ha! That reminds me of my youth when the Jdubs were saying noone would ever make it to the moon as Satan would never let one person escape his grasp!! Wooops, new light said the moon was still in the influence of the earh, so still in old Louie's control..

    Thanks for the link..

Necessity drives change! Sounds suspiciously like "purpose" which is the nasty "P" word to non-theists!

My opinion. They WILL find life on Europa.
When and if they do, that will open up a whole can of worms, wont it?

That's why I posted this. I remember my dad telling me there was no other life in the universe. My, how times change.

I think this is interesting as hell. I'll send it to my dad tonite.

I am a Christian who believes that God used evolution to create all life on earth. I also believe there is a chance that very simple life forms may exist on a place like Europa. However, I doubt any JW will be impressed by the contents of this article. For it only contains what scientists themselves admit is just "speculation." And it plainly states that, "No one knows if anything is there ... Most researchers agree that proof of life on Europa will only come with a mission to the moon. No firm plans exist for such a project."

I know Achristian. My father isn't very selective in his scientific reading, though. I'll send him this, and he'll read up on it for weeks.

I just think it's really cool to have even the possibility of life on Mars, (which there may be), on Europa, etc. I love it. It's like the ultimate fantasy novel for me. Beauty and wonder beyond imagination. It would really be something to travel between planets someday.

    Ashi,

Perhaps I can share a few additional links you might find interesting from the news.

Here is a article that was in recent news about a new concept in space travel...motels in space endlessely traveling between Mars and Earth using planetary gravity for propulsion:

Here is another reason we may find life on Europa:

Thanks guys for the cool links......really interesting material.
I have always wondered about this kind of thing.....I find it so hard to believe we are the only ones around.....always have found that concept difficult.

    Thanks again,
    Ana

I don't see why theists have a problem with this - the bible says nothing about the topic so where's the threat? God didn't say anything about the microbes which live of chemicals coming out of deep sea vents but nobody found that a problem. I think the society has advised its followers not to be dogmatic on this since they may look foolish later on (perhaps the society are learning!)but I can't remember the reference.

I will be VERY surprised if life is not found on other planets in my life-time.

But, on the other hand, just imagine how awe-inspiring it would be to realise we are the ONLY intelligent species in this huge universe.
