  The story certainly shows the cruel side of the JW religion, and especially how members are programmed to do whatever the society ask.

  Unfortunately, many times the article it speaks about members having to sell books.

  Now we now know that they do not sell books. Most times literature is taken and offered to a householder, and if they respond they may be asked if they would like to donate. However most times these days , the witness takes care of the expense, so it is wrong to say members sell books or magazines.

  The article would have been good to show a witness had it not been for that. As it is because of the false statement about selling, no witness would listen or learn from it. When speaking to witnesses you need to have every fact correct, if not they will jump on it and reject all the other true points that have been made.

  That is the part that I thought was a bit exaggerated. And you are very correct that it would turn the JW's off.

  Although it would turn JWs off, and rightly so because they loath thinking of themselves as traveling book salesmen, it is in effect what the WT expects of every JW....to get their magazines in the hands of as many people as they can.

  Getting their money by proxie from the witness or the witness himself makes no differenct to the WT overlords.

  Any time an article exposing something negative about JW's is published, any value or truth in it will be negated by incorrect statements like the "selling books" comment. It will immediately close a JW's mind as that untruth is all they will see...I agree with the earlier posters that this article will have no value in opening a JW's eyes.
