Suborning Perjury

I am a little skeptical (but not very!) about accounts of the
Society's lawyers/representatives coaching people to lie in
child custody cases. (holidays are OK , we don't shun df'd
    relatives, etc.)

My reason for this: Isn't that suborning perjury? Even lawyers
aren't allowed to deliberately coach lying in a courtroom,
are they? I would think such conduct would be a liability.
    Has anyone looked into this?

You have to remember that these people think that they are above the law... representatives of gawd him self. When given the choice of serving their gawd or the court, they will server their gawd.

I understand - yet are they really so stupid as to think
that they can do this as a practise and not get caught?

Someone might turn 'apostate' and turn them in!

The exerpts that I have seen are clever spins on things, rather than being outright lies .
Parents in those situations being told to take the kids out to the zoo, play in the park .. and then the youngster being told to concentrate on these rather than all the time spent in service etc.
After all it is not wrong ,they say , to have a good time. but the emphasis put on things that normally would not be a big part of their life.

    Metatron,

Having gone through a battle for custody of my son, I can assure you that in fact the society does coach the jw's in court. As a matter of fact, they have published a booklet entitled "Preparing for child custody cases." I have a copy of it somewhere in my files but I could not locate it at the moment. I am sure that if anyone on this board has been through a custody issue, they would be familiar with this publication.

When I locate it, I will post some wonderful, truthful, advice from the FDS.

I remember when I was a dub and going through my divorce, custody became a threat. I asked for the booklet and was told by the elders that it was very "sensitive" and that I would only be given it when and if it became a REAL issue (meaning other than threats).

They wouldn't even give it to me to be prepared just in case. So there is definitely stuff in there they don't want joe-schmoe to see.

    Howdy Metatron:

My mother was asked to serve as a character witness in a child custody case for an unbaptized, JW raised "prodigal daughter" in her congregation.

We discussed at length the 'coaching' that took place over the course of two weeks with the assistance of the WTS's lawyers. The concept of "Theocratic War Strategy" was being used to full advantage.

Randy has a discussion of the "Preparing for Child Custody Cases" booklet on his website, at this URL:

    Enjoy!
