Perfectly illustrating the JW mindset...

  As a Pittsburgh Pirate/baseball fan I couldn't help but see a parallel from last night's action in the Pirates/Braves game. I'm sure most of you sports fans heard about the miscall that ended the game. If you were unaware:

  Pirates were pitching in the bottom of the 19th inning. Yes, 19th inning. Runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Ground ball to the third basemen, throws it home and he's out... or not. Here's the video:

  So here's where the JW mindset illustration comes in. Anybody with a pair of working eyes can see he was clearly out. Despite this fact, while browsing internet comments posted on the articles that talked about the call, there were people still saying that he was in fact safe. How can you possibly see a safe call there?

  Alas, the mind is a funny thing. It makes us see things that clearly aren't there. Makes us prone to false reasoning. I don't know, it just seems to mimic the way the JW mind thinks.

  From what I can see the catcher's glove went above the runner's leg when he was sliding. I think as a PP fan you are seeing what you want to see.

  Of course this would also fit the JW mindset.

  I'm not out to argue with you. It's just my opinion and I really don't care one way or the other about Baseball.

  Also one has to realize that only the Umpire was looking directly at the runner/catcher. Even the camera viewpoint is blocked by the Umpire's body, so he is the last word. That is what he is trained to do and his words stands, like it or not.

  At full speed it looked like a clear out. In slow motion it looks like the catcher may have fanned on him and missed the tag. Maybe. Still it is more probable that the glove touched the runner and he was out.

  Well MLB and the umpire admitted they made the wrong call on it so it isn't just me seeing it. Despite that, I guess you could put me in a similar category. It does certainly look closer when you slow it down. However, if by some miracle he didn't tag him, 99.9% of the time umpires will call that out and nobody would argue, for sure.

  The game was 6 and a half hours by the way.

  It's been pretty much unanimously decided that the wrong call was made. When it comes to sports, I'm one of the first people to find the other team's viewpoint. I'm willing to say that they made the wrong call in favor of my team. I'm open-minded to the evidence and in this case, I don't see enough evidence to say he wasn't out. Maybe that's why I was able to see through the BS of the WT.

  Looking at things like 607, when the evidence and the true experts and authorities on the subject say it is one way, it's amazing how the viewpoints can vary based on not having an open-mind on the evidence.

  By the way, I'm not bitter about the call. I just noticed a comparison that I thought was worth noting.
