I have just read the Article 'Does God Have An Organization' from page 13 of The Watchtower, 1 June 2011.

Yesterday, two elders popped round to leave it with my dad who has not been to the meetings now in some time. I decided it would be interesting to eavesdrop into their little conversation as a section of it was about me. They encouraged him (and in extension me) to return to the meetings and to continue our fellowship with the brothers as JW's. They left my dad with this particular article to read which he did. He then handed it to me to read.

I have my own reasons for leaving the organisation, namely that im gay and that I feel I dont fit in anymore. My dad has become very angry with the way he has been treated lately and throughout the last 10 years or so. Because of this he no longer feels that this is Jehovah's organisation. Because I know im not accepted anymore by them, I have also been drawn to the same conclusion.

Anyhow, I have read this article and the title made me want to ask for some opinions on here. Does God have an organisation?

Im aware that the word 'organisation' isnt found in the bible but was adopted by JW's who put an UNNATURAL amount of emphasis on the term.

A few months ago I thought long and hard about this. I believe he does have organisation (notice the lack of the definite article). I dont see it in the sense as it is an entity, ie. a business or a legal or religious organisation. I concluded that Jehovah's organisation refers to THE WAY he has 'organised' the whole situation described in the bible. He 'organised' for his son to give his life so that we may be saved if we put our trust in him (John 3:16). Likewise he has 'organised' that his son is the ONLY mediator through whom we can get close to God (1 Timothy 2:5-6). Make sense? I think so. I believe this is Jehovah's organisation.

    What do you all think?

Based on the way the Bible is put together- not likely.

Why the hell would an almighty, all-knowing, omni-present God need any kind of organisation?

Why would the Judaic/Christian concept of God need an organization. God is not supposed to be human and need such earthly things since he is God, the big G. If I wanted to control people, I'd tell them God appointed me. What evidence is there that the WTBTS was selected by God? It may be culturally determined but it would be more believeable to me if the org were in the Holy Land or a world city. They may reside in NYC for a while, but they don't partake of the culture and power of NY. Similarly, how likely is it that an angel appeared upstate to Joseph Smith.

God is supposed to be mighty and powerful. The same God who gave gifts of music to Mozart or Beethoven, and art to DaVinci and Michelangelo would dictate the art in the WT or Kingdom Songs. God's organization would show love for people. I've worked in social science settings and Catholic Charities is impressive. There is no coercion to Catholic doctrine or preferential treatment of Catholic. God's organization would make certain God's people would have food and shelter.

The problem is that the further away you retreat from the WTBTS the nuttier it seems. I was born-in so I had nothing in my experience to compare with it. Fearing them is the not the same as believing them.

My God doesn't need 40 corporations to work.

If there is a God, and I think there is, why the hell would he need an organization on earth or anywhere else? The whole idea is nuts.

This is the key thing with JWs and one of the main themes for the elders visits to us. Did we believe God had an organisation and if so which one would we chose.

Their main thought is that JWs are part of Gods organisation and you have to associate yourself with it or you are an apostate.

It is truly shocking and if God who hates lying was going to pick an organisation would he pick anyone with such a shocking record of deception to represent him.

Does God have an organisation? if he wanted people to be associated with a particular faith then I would hope he would be more explicit about which one it should be.

Which God are we talking about here?

I think Thor has an organisation, Mars probably not.

The FSM doesn't need one and the IPU is developing hers.

Apparently Satan has an Organization as well. If you're not part of Jehovah's Organization, then you get a pre-paid membership into Satan's...automatically.

I am finding that Satan's Organization has better music.
