For non-confrontational purposes, I'd say it is just as operative upon a person the moment he emerges from the water as it ever will be. But I'm no JW.

For a JW-centric view on this - one might ask this:
Does a JW get "annointed" at the moment of baptism, or do you have to pioneer for a while, or at least be a regular publisher first?
