Why is it that when former Witnesses look at the Society's pre-1919 teachings that were not true we conclude that they mean that the Society is NOT God's organization, but when current Witnesses look at those same teachings they conclude that they mean it IS God's organization? What makes the difference?
I feel that one of the factors that makes the difference is because while Ex-Witnesses process those pre-1919 teachings through Matthew 24:45-47, Witnesses process them through Proverbs 4:18.
Take for example Rutherford's "Millions Now Living Will Never Die!"...
Witnesses apply the Society's "new light" interpretation of Proverbs 4:18 and simply dismiss all those teachings as "old light" that were eventually corrected by "new light" which they feel goes to show that Jehovah has continued to refine his organization.
But Ex-Witneses apply the Society's 'food at the proper time' interpretation of Matthew 24:45-47 and realize that Rutherford was teaching the above all during the same time that they say Jesus was examining him to make sure that what he was teaching really was 'the right food at the proper time.'
And since that and so many other teachings at that time had NOT been the right food or the proper time to be serving them, Ex-Witnesses conclude that the Society would not have been able to pass the examination they say Jesus gave them in 1918-1919.
And therefore they would not have received his appointment mentioned in verse 47.
And without that appointment in 1919 the Society cannot be God's organization in 2011.
If only Jehovah's Witnesses could process those pre-1919 teachings through Matthew 24:45-47 instead of Proverbs 4:18 they too may eventually be able to come to realize that the Watchtower Society has never been either Jesus' "faithful or discreet slave" or "Jehovah's organization.
