I was talking to my friend again and I shared the http://circuitleasing.com page with her (she says she ordered a keychain). She was pretty disgusted by the blatant commercialism and wanted to know who owns the company? She also mentioned the fact that the WTBTS is Incorporated and since neither of us is very business savvy I was wondering if any of you knows what that means. Why do religions need to be Incorporated? Are the Mormons, Catholics and Baptists Incorporated?

Incorporation facilitates business transactions & helps insulates the board members from being held libel from lawsuits. The tax implications are mute, because the WT is a religious organization.
Bottom-line= The Watchtower is just a publishing company with unpaid workers, what a deal! -

The major religions of the world have been going for 100's of years and enjoy all forms of Government protection and tolerance
JW's don't, they went down the unyielding, lawyer front - and also ensured their tax advatages.
Remember even the pope has a banker!!

I haven't read the earlier posts to which you refer re "your friend", but for someone who has been around since 7/01, you should have read all the earlier posts re CircuitLeasing sufficient to know that there is NO SCANDAL, and you shoud be ashamed of yourself if you have mislead a friend into believing that such exists.

Madapostate: just as you have not read any of my earlier posts (about 10) referring to my friend, I have not read all the earlier posts regarding circuit leasing. I believe very few of us are able to read every post on this board. Regardless of how long we have been around.
Please read my post again and notice that I am not looking for a scandal(you're term) but for information. I was simply giving a bit of background as to why the question was being asked.
I did not mislead a friend I simply shared a site with her, does the site exist? yes, it does what is so misleading about a fact?
I am not ashamed of myself. My friends are free to use their own God given mind to come up with their own conclusions. I do not force feed information ,nor do I demand for anyone to conform to my own personal opinions in order to continue being my friend (although that last statement does have a familiar ring, does it not?)
This is a bulletin board we come here to request/share information about a broad range of subjects. If you have an answer to my question on incorporation then I would love to hear from you. If you would like to simply direct me to the "circuit leasing not a scandal"
