Why all the Symposiums?? Big part of the District Conventions this year, more than any other.
Just curious what your thoughts are.

My guess is that it makes the WTS sound important if they use big biz buzz words and borrow some of their practices.
It lets them pretend like something interesting is coming up by giving it a special name, when in reality it's just 3-4 more short talks of equally boring content in a row.
More talks available for privilege hungry br's to reach out for
My guess is they use the variety of speakers to keep the sheeple's attention and keep 'em in their seats!
It takes a really good speaker to keep people's attention for 45 minutes or more.
With a symposium, the audience gets awakened by the applause between speakers every 10-15 minutes.
Gosh ... i really hated these ...
I work in public speaking, those of you that i had said is an "attention grabbing" technique are CORRECT.... you have to be a really good facilitator/moderator/speaker to keep your audience engaged for more than 30 minutes, having 3-4 people share the load helps the borg keep more of the dubs awake.... keep in mind most symposiums are in the afternoon right after lunch or in the morning right before lunch, when everyones attention tends to be gone... is all about their selling techniques and keeping the dubs in line...
One definition of the word "Symposium"
"a formal meeting at which several specialists deliver short addresses on a topic or on related topics"
The people delivering the "symposium" talks at the conventions are all reading from prepared manuscripts.
They are NOT "experts" presenting material that they are contributing.
In that sense, the Watchtower use of the word "symposium" is misleading.
It is as "I drank the wine" said, the convention "symposiums" are simply a sequence of small (manuscript) talks given by different brothers.
The people delivering the "symposium" talks at the conventions are all reading from prepared manuscripts.

But they ARE experts, experts on reading manuscripts and cheesy hand gestures. We all love overzealous hand gestures...
