    Watchtower — selling the president

Today I uploaded a new article to my blog addressing a tactic employed by Watchtower to salvage its struggling business concern. It’s not anything unusual for a business. But then Watchtower does not claim to be a business. Take a look at what Watchtower advised its associates to do.

My article is titled Watchtower — selling the president and is available at: http://marvinshilmer.blogspot.com/2011/08/watchtower-selling-president.html

This is a must read for folks who think Watchtower is not about men following men!

    Bella15,

It is startling to review Watchtower’s immediate reaction during the throws of such a huge crisis.

During crisis an organization is more apt to display motivations in the rush to salvage itself from a catastrophe in progress. The summer of 1928 represents such a period of reaction, and it was the starting point for what ended up as a total rebranding of Watchtower’s religion business. This was spawned by the drastic drop in associates from the Spring of 1927 to the Spring of 1928.

A peep under the white robes . . . yuk! what a horrid sight.

Thanks again Marvin . . . make no mistake, these little bites of truth are of major relevance.

I've been to a few MLM business meetings and they give me the same Creeps.

    sizemik,

The beauty of a catastrophe is its tendency to breed hasty and drastic reaction with a result of showing a bit more of what is under the “white rob” than would otherwise be revealed. This is why year 1928 is so remarkable, and in my opinion underrated for its research value.

Historically commentators visited this period from a theological perspective rather than a business perspective. When this period is examined from a business perspective it screams all sorts of stuff that is hardly touched by researchers. So, for example, and as Designs suggests, we see symptoms of MLM.

Indeed Marvin . . . this "Organisation" moves well beyond the bounds of religion . . . and as you say . . . it's not always strikingly obvious. Especially so, when one is caught up in the "religious" experience. Stripping away the pious "robes" for a good gander is simply adding balance to an (albeit retrospective) perception of what the WTB&TS is all about. As an XJW it is very validating . . . as these simple statements you highlight are quite unambiguous.

    Please continue stripping
