Correct me if I,am wrong, but the crossing of the red
sea was done in one night. Exodus 14;21 God drove
the sea back by A strong east wind all night. vs24
And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire
and cloud looked down upon the host of the Egyptians
vs 25 clogging their chariot wheels, and vs26 Moses
stretch out his hand so the water may come back.
A milliom people, women , children ,many cattle,
both flocks and herds, in one nite. Please
I may add, the red sea is 220.6 miles at it
widest point. In Moses day it was wider.
From what I can remember, 'Red Sea' is a mistranslation, it's meant to read 'Sea of reeds', which is more reasonable.
Of course, it’s a myth of origin story, with the population numbers greatly exaggerated. There is virtually no archaeological evidence for any of the bible myths before 1000 b.c.
At an average walking speed of 3 miles per hour (wikipedia)
220 miles would take about 73 hours for the first person in to walk out the other side. If they went in say, 20 abreast the length of the line would be 50,000 people long. Averaging a stride pace of 1 person per yard (1760 yards in a mile) thats 1760 rows of twenty in each mile. You would get 50000 rows in 28 miles.
Its still going to take 3 days... unless the crossing was only 70 miles or less. And thats walking 24 hours no slacking the pace.
I guess its all relative to the width of the crossing. Spread out the people 100 wide and the column gets shortened to 10,000 deep over 5.6 miles covering that in 2 hours at 3 mile per hour... so if the crossing was an allnighter of 12 hours then at that speed they could make 18 miles from sunset to sunrise...mind you, all the cows and wagons will stretch it out...
Whatever way it 'was' it can't have been a very wide crossing to say the least...

I'm sure god made the seabed a smooth, dry road for the crossing too so that carts and wagons wouldn't get stuck,...
You guys are silly. One day means a thousand years. It took them a thousand years to cross the red sea.

N ow I want to mention Mount Sinai. When Moses fled from Egypt, he dwelt in the land of Midian. There he married Zipporah, one of the seven daughters of Reuel or Jethro who were descendants of Abraham and Keturah. And Moses worked as a shepherd for his father-in-law, Jethro, who was the priest and leader of Midian. He knew that land like the back of his hand. He knew where to find good pastures and water. And he knew how to get there from Egypt in a hurry. Moses was taking the Israelites to Midian by the shortest possible route - through the Red Sea. He wasn't marching around in circles at the Gulf of Suez. Moses had an appointment to meet God on Mount Horeb, in Midian.
Let's read Moses' Commission from God in Exodus 3:1-2. "Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed".
Where was Moses? He was in the land of Midian which is by the Gulf of Aqaba in Arabia. He was standing on Mount Horeb, which is Mount Sinai, with a flock of sheep on the backside of the desert. Mount Sinai is not in the Sinai Peninsula at all, but across the Red Sea in the land of Midian.
This is confirmed by the apostle Paul in Galatians 4:22-26, "It is written: Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. He who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which is an allegory: for these women type the two covenants; the one from the Mount Sinai, which genders to bondage, which is Agar.
For this Agar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and types Jerusalem which now is, and is enslaved to the Law with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all".
Did you hear what Paul said? "This Agar is Mount Sinai in Arabia". If Exodus 3:1 and Galatians 4:25 place Mount Sinai in Arabia, it's probably still there. And the maps in our Bibles are wrong because they portray Mount Sinai in the Peninsula between the two gulfs.

in what took place. First of all I do not beleive it took
place, why because the biblical story do not add up.
OK, first of all, if they cross the red sea or sea of reef
it does not matter which sea they crossed.
We can be certain they cross the sea one time only,
from west to east side of the red sea or sea of reef, agree.
The city of Midian was north west of the the red sea, scholars
believe somewhere in or around Sundan.
When they cross the red sea or sea of reef , what
was the distance to the promise land. And what side
of the red sea (west or east bank) where the tribes located that the Israelites
slaughter on their way too the promise land. My point
is by cross the red sea it take away A considerable amount
of desert roaming.
