Who make up the largest number of witnesses? Born-ins or converts?

As I looked through the KH yesterday, I did a head check. Granted, I dont know everyone or even most of their sotries. But I noticed a LARGE amount born-ins. Perhaps you have noticed a trend. If you took out all of the born-ins in the supposed 7 million witnesses, how many do you believe might be left? And what would that say about the preaching work? At the DC this yr, I watched as many young ones were getting baptised. No doubt born-ins. It really makes me wonder about our numbers and how people come into the organization. Because being a born-in or convert really affects how you will view things later on in your JW life IMHO.

One thing to keep in mind: 2/3 of the kids LEAVE eventually.

I have NO doubt about that leavingwt. :)

Do you know how they figured out 2/3? If true, it strikes me a very unlike most American religions. Most people tend to stay in their parents' religio unless they marry another religion. Compared to when I was young, many people just stay in their own churches now and let children decide when they are older.

Do you think 2/3 of their parents shun them?

Band on the Run: JWs literally have the lowest retention rate. It is indeed unlike most American religions.

"Jehovah's Witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition. Only 37% of all those who say they were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses still identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses."
