Have you read Captives of a Concept? The question you have to answer, is this: Is there such a thing as an UNINSPIRED prophet?

Thanks leaving. At the recent assembly, the DO said that the society has never claimed to be inspired. Spirit-directed I know I've heard and continue to hear all the time.

Can a prophet be uninspired?

Their reasoning is so faulty, it's absoultely mind-boggling. If I hadn't learned so much about the way JW's think, I would wonder just how they can sit there and accept these things so blindly.
"were prophets, but we are not inspired" - This reasoning creates a sort of dual effect. The "prophet" portion causes them to make their followers listen to everything they say, as if it directly from God himself. To doubt them is in direct correlation to doubting Jehovah. The "uninspired" portion gives them a way out of nearly any and all situations. If they are wrong...."remember we were never inspired. We are not infallibe!"
It drives me insane!

DAMMIT LEAVINGWT!
Don't you know they want that old literature to just go away, and here you are dragging it up and posting it on SIN (Satan's Internet Network).
You know that has a copyright. You're probably in a lot of trouble now.
[Removing tongue from cheek.]
I dug out an old BV and showed that to a close slightly-doubting friend. All I got was a glare and ostrasized because it was SO OLD. "See! Is that the most recent thing you could find?? They haven't claimed that for a LONG TIME!" (I mean WTF? They never RETRACTED it, did they?)

They never RETRACTED it, did they?
Never discuss doctrine.
The facts are only helpful after a person has decided to honestly evaluate them. So long as they believe that 'WT is God's Organization' and they are afraid to examine the possibility that they are wrontg, you can expect them to be unwaivered by cold, hard evidence that is contrary to their strongly-held beliefs.

Here is a page I just made:
"The Watchtower does not claim to be inspired in its utterances, nor is it dogmatic." - August 15, 1950 , page 263.
"The brothers preparing these publications are not infallible. Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers. (2 Tim. 3:16) And so, at times, it has been necessary, as understanding became clearer, to correct views. (Prov. 4:18 )" - February 15, 1981, page 19.Spirit-Directed?
The second question also reminds the candidate of his responsibility to work with Jehovah’s spirit-directed organization.—WT 06 4/1 p. 24-25
There must be agreement among all true Christians, a unified message, if people are to hear what is correct, put genuine faith in the true God and call upon Jehovah’s name with the prospect of being saved. Moreover, one spirit-directed organization must be used in connection with the sending forth of those truthful preachers of the “good news.”—Romans 10:11-15.—WT 84 7/15 10-15
In order to assist us to acknowledge the provision of strength to stand against an archenemy, we might look to the fine spirit-directed counsel that Paul wrote to the Christian congregation—WT 72 3/1
But now the receipt by the Antioch congregation of a spirit-directed letter, coupled with this visit of the two “prophets,” had settled the matter. The congregation had reason to rejoice.—Acts 15:2, 22-31.—WT 79 2/15
JEHOVAH’S servants must pay attention to the spirit-directed words of Jesus Christ to the seven congregations named in the Bible book of Revelation.—WT 03 5/15 15-20
